Commencement

There is reasonable flexibility regarding start date; the programme is ongoing, with 5 start dates each year at approximately 2 month intervals.

In order to achieve a licence through this programme, you must have an Irish JAR – Class 1 Aeromedical. Clearly it is in your best interest to pass this before any other financial outlay, so we highly recommend doing so before starting the programme. This can only be conducted at the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin, see our contacts section. The cost is €605.00 at present.

On the subject of medical matters, Port Alfred, where you’ll be living for the entirety of training in South Africa is safe and free from malaria. However, you are highly recommended to consult a doctor with regards to vaccinations. These may include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid & Tetanus; particularly if you plan on travelling further afield. Check our links page for further information.

One thing you must have before departure is a “student visa”. We will assist you in the necessary application process.
